What you can do on MyPension

The features available to you within MyPension include:

  • Benefit modeller
  • Produce instant pension benefit quotations
  • Access copies of annual benefits statements
  • Access personal information
  • Useful information and links

Before using the instant pension benefit quotations please refer to the section 'Viewing the estimate results' in the User Guide below. Due to pension rule complexities any pension estimates provided are indicative. If you are about to make an important decision such as considering early retirement you should not rely on this information and you should contact the Pensions Service Centre to obtain a formal quotation.

Viewing the estimate results

Following login you will be taken to the Benefits Dashboard page. Click on 'Benefit Quotations', select the type of calculation, and then click on 'Generate Quote'.

Accessing your information – multiple records

If you have more than one record on our system (perhaps resulting from a previous period of service), you can select the record you want to look at by clicking on 'Switch membership' in the top right hand corner.

Clicking on 'Switch membership' will show the available member records, with the default record highlighted.

Can I update my personal details, such as my address?

As a current contributing member, you should inform your local HR Representative of any change to the personal data that we hold. The payroll/HR processes have been set up so that a member only has to inform HR of the changes they would like made and then this is automatically provided to the pensions team.

Why can’t I obtain a leaving service estimate?

For a minority of members, specific conditions relating to membership or benefits mean we cannot provide online calculations.  We apologise for this inconvenience, however if you contact the Pensions Service Centre they will provide you with a written benefit estimate within a few days.

Why can’t I obtain a retirement estimate?

The effective date you enter must be a date on which you would be entitled to take your retirement benefits, normally any date after your 55th birthday. For a minority of members, specific conditions relating to membership or benefits mean we cannot provide online calculations. We apologise for this inconvenience, however if you contact the Pensions Service Centre they will provide you with a written benefit estimate within a few days.

Why can't I open my leaving and/or my retirement estimate views?

This is usually a result of the security settings on the computer you are using. Please make sure you check the following:

  1. Your computer has Adobe Reader installed (Please refer to the Adobe Website or speak to your systems Administrator)
  2. Your internet browser permits files to be downloaded. The security settings will vary depending on internet browser. For example in Internet Explorer 8, navigate to:
    • Tools/Internet options/Security -> select 'Internet' and click 'Custom level'
    • Check that options under 'Downloads' are enabled – 'Automatic prompting for file downloads' and 'File download'
    • Please clear the cache (delete temporary internet files).

The method varies by internet browser, for example in Internet Explorer 8, navigate to: Tools/Internet Options/Browsing history -> Delete/Delete Temporary Internet Files.

How do I use the Retirement Modeller?

The Retirement Modeller allows you to estimate the effect of retiring earlier than the Scheme Normal Retirement Age.

Please bear in mind that the Modeller provides a broad estimate based on available information which may not be fully up to date. The assumptions used in the Modeller may differ from those applied in producing your retirement estimates. You should also read the notes on screen to understand assumptions used. The benefits displayed are not guaranteed to be paid and before making any decisions you should obtain a formal estimate from the Pensions Service Centre.

The Modeller shows your current benefits projected to your Normal Retirement Age. By hovering over the bars at each age, you can see how your pension might be affected by retiring early. If you click on a specific age bar, you can then see how your pension might change should you decide to take a lump sum at retirement.

These modelling options can be viewed individually, or in combination, and at any time, you can undo changes and return the Modeller to your current benefits by pressing 'Reset all adjustments'.

ROPS - Crown Service Members - Using the Retirement Modeller

Please note that the ROPS Crown Service section provides an automatic lump sum at retirement which has been included in the Retirement Modeller.  If you select a particular retirement age and decide to increase the amount of cash you wish to take, this choice will carry through if you then select a different age using the + and - buttons shown below (subject to the maximum level not being exceeded).

If you wish to revert back to the original Crown cash figure, click on 'Reset all adjustments' at the bottom of the screen.

What is the 'no liability' period of membership I see when I log in?

This will not apply to all members. If you see this, it relates to a previous period of membership which has been transferred and included with a later period of membership and benefits. It is displayed purely for information purposes, with limited data available to view.
